Author Leo VanMeer, who turned 97 in October 2004, has gardened naturally
for more than 80 years. Before retirement, he freelanced articles
on his favorite subject (organic gardening) to national publications.
After retirement, June 1968, he continued gardening in Florida without using manufactured chemical pesticides.
He wrote and published two books: VanMeer's
Step-by-Step Guide to Natural Gardening and Grandfather,
Tell Me More.
For nearly two decades, VanMeer penned a “Garden Naturally” column for Florida’s west coast St. Petersburg Times
newspaper, publishing more than 400 articles during this period.
Today, he is dedicated to global writing via the Internet to let the world know how to produce delicious fruits
and vegetables without the use of poisonous sprays.
